Excerpt from the AMSPSA Constitution
The membership grades of the AMSPSA shall consist of Junior Associate Member, Associate Member, Ordinary Member, Retired Member or Honorary Life Member.

Associate Member: shall be carrying a legal appointment of at least the rank of a Safety Officer on a mine or works as specified in the MHSA, or S/he shall provide a safety, health, medical, environment, hygiene or risk related service to the mining industry on a level of at least that of a Safety Officer.

Ordinary Member: S/he shall be the holder of a NQF level 6 qualification in either safety, health, medical, environment, hygiene or risk as approved by Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO), or be appointed at a mine as a safety, health, environment or risk practitioner as a result of being the holder of a Mine Overseer/ Mine Managers Certificate of Competency or similar level Engineering Certificate of Competency for mines and works, issued in terms of the Mines and Works Regulations still in force under Schedule 4 of the MHSA of the Republic of South Africa.

Retired Member: Any member or past member of the AMSPSA who ceased to participate actively in the mining industry on account of reaching retirement age or incapacitation shall subject to the approval of the AMSPSA Council, be eligible for change to the membership grade of “Retired Member” of the association.Retired members shall be entitled to attend all meetings of the AMSPSA and take part in discussions and activities of the association.

Honorary Life Member: The Council shall have the power to nominate persons to be Honorary Life Members of the AMSPSA. Any person whose service to the association, in the opinion of the Council merits such nomination. Honorary Life Members shall be entitled to attend all meetings Honorary Life Members shall be exempted from annual membership fees.

How to join the Association

Please read through the Membership Application Form carefully and complete each field as comprehensively as possible. A copy of the AMSPSA Constitution is available for download, it is recommend that you read through it before completing the form.

After completing your Membership Application Form, submit the form via email to the AMSPSA Secretary using the following information:

A representative from the Mines Professional Association’s will contact you, once your form has been thoroughly evaluated and deemed acceptable.

To update your membership details, download the membership update form and return the completed form to the association secretary.
